Aleksandra Dragovic
Aleksandra Dragovic came to the United States as a young child, from the former Yugoslavia by way of Canada, alongside parents who rebuilt their careers as medical doctors twice over — first in Canada, then again in the United States. She understands the immigration process from the inside, having lived through it before she ever practiced it.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1997 and her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 2001. She was admitted in New York in May 2002 and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York later that year, and is also admitted to the State Bar of Michigan.
Aleksandra brings more than twenty years of high-volume immigration litigation experience, built through practice in the New York and New Jersey Immigration Courts. Her work centers on removal defense and family-based immigration, and she has helped several hundred people obtain and preserve lawful status in the United States. In New York she earned a reputation for care and integrity in presenting cases before the Immigration Court.
She values the litigation process and genuinely enjoys courtroom work — a preference that is less common than it sounds among immigration practitioners, and one that matters when a case is going to be tried rather than settled on paper. Clients tend to notice that she is straightforward: she is direct in her assessments, including when the answer is not the one somebody hoped for.
She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Outside the practice she is a barre and HIIT regular, walks and runs, paddle boards, reads psychological thrillers, and spends as much time outdoors with family and friends as the docket allows. She serves clients in Serbo-Croatian, with limited Spanish and French.
