Moses A. El-Sayed

Born to immigrant parents from Lebanon, Moses El-Sayed completed his bachelor's degree with distinction at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.

During law school he served as a law clerk in the Civil Rights Division of the Attorney General's Office and worked in MSU's Immigration Law Clinic, advocating for unaccompanied minor children, victims of crime and trafficking, and people fleeing persecution. That clinic work turned an interest into a decision: he would practice immigration law exclusively.

He did not start there. Moses began his career as a general practitioner at a small Metro Detroit firm, where he worked as a civil litigator and handled divorce and criminal defense matters. That courtroom grounding is now the backbone of his removal-defense practice — he defends clients in Immigration Court who are facing deportation, and his advocacy has led to permanent residency, waivers of inadmissibility, asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and citizenship for people who arrived at his office expecting to lose.

His general-practice background also lets him handle the adjacent problems that quietly wreck immigration cases. When a client is charged with a crime, or when a divorce or separation threatens lawful status obtained through marriage, those matters are not a separate track — they are the immigration case, and Moses can work both sides of it rather than referring half the problem elsewhere.

His practice covers removal defense including cancellation of removal and asylum, alongside family-based immigration: marriage petitions, adjustment of status, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. He has been named a Michigan Super Lawyers Rising Star since 2020. He is admitted before the State Bar of Michigan and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and serves clients in Arabic.
